How can you improve your business relationship management skills?
Simon Sinek is today’s expert in BRM. His Ted Talk “Start with Why” is a clinic on how to distill any business to its most impactful concepts. I suggest watching it and then intensely brainstorm on how to apply those concepts to your business. The ideas you gain may astound you. Earl Nightingale’s “The Strangest Secret” is another classic. He suggest a 30-day challenge to listeners to focus their thoughts solely on their goal, which serves as a practical application of the "strangest secret" to prove its validity. Dale Carnegie’s “How To Make Friends And Influence People.” His philosophy can be summed up as the importance of being empathetic, genuine, and considerate towards others to build rapport and influence them positively.

How do you convince a prospect to buy without being pushy?
Prospects are busier, more "educated" (because everyone has Google/ChatGPT), and possibly more confused than ever before... because of the overwhelming amount of information available to them. As Joe Friday used to say, "Just the facts, ma'am. Those who deliver the FACTS the prospect cares about will win the day almost every time. Though, if they aren't willing to "roll up their sleeves and go to work" with you on solving their problem... it's a clear warning sign. Always ask, “how does this affect you PERSONALLY / PROFESSIONALLY if this problem isn’t solved by X?” If they aren’t motivated to solve the problem, then you shouldn’t be motivated to educate them. (Not written by ChatGPT!)

What is the best way to convey your passion for sales in an interview?
Don’t be afraid to ask uncomfortable questions, in a job interview or life. It’s the hard questions that can make a prospect or (an interviewer) pause and say, "wow" or "hmm, I hadn’t thought of that"... that will set you apart. The best salespeople ask remarkable questions, those conversational bombs that others won’t. Then the magic happens in the silence that follows because the best… they shut up and just listen to the other person. That pregnant pause is where the deal-closing answers often are. Stick around long enough in that quiet, and the prospect will practically hand you the keys to doing business with them. If you master the art of listening to others, you can open doors to opportunities you never knew existed.
